Nathan Cole

Nathan Cole (26 July 1825-4 March 1904) was the Republican Mayor of St. Louis from 1869 to 1871 (succeeding James S. Thomas and preceding Joseph Brown) and a member of the US House of Representatives (R-MO 2) from 4 March 1877 to 3 March 1879 (interrupting Erastus Wells' terms).

Biography[]

Nathan Cole was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1825, and he served as a bank director for 43 years before serving as Mayor from 1869 to 1871 and in the US House of Representatives from 1877 to 1879. He was more liberal than 90% of his fellow Republicans during his service.
