Nasser Moghadam (1921-11 April 1979) was the fourth and last chief of the SAVAK, serving from 6 June 1978 to 12 February 1979; he succeeded Nematollah Nassiri. Moghadam was executed during the Iranian Revolution.
Biography[]
Nasser Moghadam was born in Tehran, Iran in 1921, and he studied law at the University of Tehran before entering the Interior Ministry. Moghadam became the chief of the SAVAK in June 1978, on the eve of the Iranian Revolution, and he oversaw the torture and execution of several opponents of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's government. In February 1979, the Islamists took over the reins of government, and Moghadam was executed by firing squad on 11 April 1979.
