
Mullah Naqib "Naqibullah" Alikozai (1950-11 October 2007) was the chief of the Pakistani Alikozai tribe and a leader of the Mujahideen during the Soviet-Afghan War.
Biography[]
Alikozai was born to the Pakistani Alikozai clan in Arghandab, Kandahar Province, in Afghanistan. Alikozai joined Burhanuddin Rabbani's Mujahideen in 1984 and fought in the Soviet-Afghan War against the invading Soviet Union forces. He personally shot down three Mi-24 gunships using CIA-supplied Stinger missiles, gaining him a hero personality.
After the war, he turned to peace and supported President Hamid Karzai's government after 2002. He died of a heart attack in 2007.
