Namnetes

The Namnetes were a tribe of ancient Gaul which inhabited southeastern Brittany; the city of Nantes is named for them. In 56 BC, the Namnetes allied with the Veneti against the Roman general Julius Caesar during his Gallic Wars, but Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus' Roman fleet defeated the Namnetes in battle. The Romans subdued the Namnetes, who continued to rule from the city of Condevicnum.
