Naim Frasheri (25 May 1846-20 October 1900) was an Albanian nationalist leader and the national poet of Albania.
Biography[]
Naim Frasheri was born in Frasher, Ottoman Albania, the brother of Abdyl Frasheri and Sami Frasheri. He became a polyglot and a lover of poetry while living in Ioannina, Greece, and he wrote poetry in the lyric and romantic style. He joined his brother Abdyl in his nationalist activism for the League of Prizren, and his works explored themes such as freedom, humanity, unity, tolerance and revolution; he also supported an Austro-Hungarian annexation of Albania. He died in Istanbul in 1900.
