The Nagoya-gumi was a criminal organization and quasi-vigilante group based in the Sakae neighborhood of Nagoya, Japan. The family was created by Kuroha-gumi patriarch Tsubasa Kurosawa and Nagoya Wyverns coach Junpei Fujita in 1997, and it consisted of regular citizens who operated from the shadows. In exchange for fixing baseball games for Kurosawa's profit, the Nagoya Family would be allowed to be the only criminal organization in town, as the feuding Tojo-kai and Omi Alliance were driven out of the city by a police crackdown on match-fixing. In 2012, the Nagoya Family's status of being citizen-led was revealed by former baseball player Tatsuo Shinada, whom the gang had framed for sign-stealing in 1997. Fumiya Ushijima and Mieko Toriyama persuaded the rest of the family to turn themselves in, although Kurosawa saw to it that all of them were released immediately. Fujita, feeling increasingly guilty now that Shinada had discovered his betrayal, planned to expose the past match-fixing through a written confession, but Kurosawa murdered him before he could publish it. Yuki Sawada then took charge of the Nagoya-gumi shortly after trading to the Nagoya Wyverns and moving back home.
