The Nagaoka Domain was a feudal domain of the Tokugawa Shogunate that was ruled by the Makino clan.
History[]
The Makino clan of Nagaoka were loyal to the Shogun rather than the Emperor. They were administrators rather than warriors, and claimed descent from the Takenouchi and Sukune, the legendary statesman and advisor to five great Emperors of old. Nagaoka benefitted from its rulers' love of modern ideas, and their links to foreign arms dealers. The domain had better business skills and economic bonuses, it could produce modern-style units at lower cost than others, and Nagaoka troops could reload on the battlefield at speed.
