Born in Bsharri, Lebanon, she emigrated to the United States at a young age, and she trained to be a dentist. While in college, she befriended Muslim Students' Association leader Noor Alfayyadh and joined her in co-founding the Dawah Party, an Islamic third party established to run candidates for the Michigan House of Representatives.
