NAACP

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is an African-American civil rights organization that was founded in 1909 by W.E.B. DuBois and several other Civil Rights movement activists. The NAACP sought to eliminate racial hatred and ethnic discrimination by focusing on the issues of economic development, desegregation, hate crimes, police misconduct, and the sociopolitical advancement of African-Americans. The NAACP spearheaded the Civil Rights movement during the early 20th century, and it currently works with groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to tackle racial hatred.
