Myrina

Myrina was a seaport town on the western coast of the Greek island of Lemnos. The city was once settled by the Pelasgians, but the Athenian general Miltiades forced them to submit. The Venetians built a castle on the island, and Greek and Turkish communities lived on separate shores of the island until Greece conquered the island in 1913 and traded populations with Turkey following the Turkish War of Independence. By 2011, Myrina had a population of 8,006 people.
