Mut'im ibn 'Adi was a non-Muslim sahabi and uncle of Muhammad.
Biography[]
Mut'im ibn 'Adi was the chief of the Banu Nawfal tribe of the Quraysh, and he was a pagan. When he found out that the Muslim Abu Bakr's daughter Aisha was going to marry the Mut'im's son Jubayr ib Mut'im in 610, he forbade the marriage, and he asked Abu Talib ibn Shaiba to stop protecting Muhammad. However, he ended the Meccan boycott that led to the starvation of the Muslims, and he provided asylum for Muhammad; he would also rescue Sa'd ibn Ubadah from the Quraysh. Mut'im died without converting to Islam, but his son Jubayr would convert.
