Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro is a city in Tennessee and the county seat of Rutherford County. It was founded in January 1812 and named for Colonel Hardy Murfree, an American Revolutionary War hero, and it was designed as the new seat of Rutherford County. On 31 December 1862, it was the site of the Battle of Stones River during the American Civil War, and it recovered faster than many other cities in the American South after the war's end. After World War II, Murfreesboro enjoyed stable economic growth into the 21st century. In 2018, Murfreesboro had a population of 141,344 people.
