Murad Issam (2003-) was a German Arab rapper who worked as a Berlin Police informant within the Tarik-Amir clan during the 2010s.
Biography[]
Murad Issam was born in Berlin, Germany in 2003 to a Moroccan immigrant family, and, following the death of his father in a car crash and his mother from cancer a month later, he was raised by his older sister Maïssa Issam. Growing up in the working-class, majority-immigrant Kaiserwarte neighborhood, he was a brilliant student, but he became a rapper and decided to join the Tarik-Amir clan in order to protect himself from his classmate Ferit's gang of bullies. In 2018, he was arrested by policeman Erol Birkan after delivering a carpet to drug kingpin Hakim Tarik-Amir's hideout; this carpet was used to cover a trap hole which injured policewoman Rafika Masaad. Birkan agreed to let Issam go after Issam pled his innocence and potential, and Birkan decided to turn Issam into an informant within the Tarik-Amir clan. Issam went on to befriend Hakim's cousin Raif Tarik-Amir, who was of a similar age, and he was assigned to spy on the bookie Späti.
Birkan ensured that Issam won the trust of the Tarik-Amir clan by allowing for the Tarik-Amir henchman Malik Zafir to take a photo of them meeting during a soccer game; Birkan had Issam explain to Raif that the police attempted to flip him, but he refused. This worked, and Murad and Raif became close friends, with Raif promising to serve as Murad's producer, and introducing Murad to the rap music scene while also seducing his sister. Detective Kurt Grimmer had Issam falsely incriminate Tomo Kovac in the bookie's murder to prompt a raid on Kovac's betting houses, shutting down the Kovac clan, while Birkan was angered that Issam lied to him. After Murad was told that he was not "gangster" enough to become a gangster rapper, Raif decided to help Murad start his own record label, and Raif sold out Birkan's location to Tarik-Amir to obtain the money needed to help Murad. While Birkan was on his way to visit Murad, he was ambushed by a hit squad, but he managed to escape. During the final police raid on the Tarik-Amir clan, Raif stole thousands of euros from the Tarik-Amir's safe to fund Murad's record label, providing themselves with a new start.
