Munenaga Hoshin'no

Munenaga Hoshin'no (1311-1351) was the daimyo of the Enryakuji Temple warrior monks on Mount Hiei.

Biography[]

Munenaga Hoshin'no was born in 1311, and he was a very honorable daimyo. He presided over the Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei to the south of Kyoto during the Nanboku-cho period, and he remained neutral during the struggle for power between the Ashikaga and the Southern Court. Hoshin'no was slain in 1351 when Rokkaku Ujiyori and Iba Mitsutaka of the Rokkaku clan conquered Mount Hiei.
