Mullah Razzan

Mullah Razzan (died 24 November 2001) was a Taliban commander during the Afghanistan War.

Biography[]

Mullah Razzan was an Islamic cleric from Afghanistan, and he joined the fundamentalist Taliban movement due to his support for strict sharia law. In 2001, he decreed that no girl over the age of eight was to be given an education, and he executed a female teacher from Bescham with a handgun in front of her students after he made them reveal that they could spell and could do math. During the Battle of Tiangi, Abdul Rashid Dostum tracked Razzan down as he attempted to flee in a pickup truck. Razzan's truck hit a rut, and Dostum shot Razzan in the head with a pistol as Razzan struggled to reverse the truck.
