Mukul Qureshi 2

Mukul Qureshi (died 2015) was a Pakistani jihadist and Lashkar-e-Taiba commander who fought in the Syrian Civil War. Qureshi led Lashkar's contingent in Syria in support of the jihad against the secular Ba'athist regime, and he was a direct contact of ISI chief Haider Khalol. In 2015, the disgraced Indian Army soldier Daniyal Khan came to Qureshi's base at Qudsaya, Rif Dimashq Governorate at the ISI's invitation, as Khan claimed that he had evidence that Sajid Majid had been assassinated by India's RAW intelligence agency. However, Qureshi and his fighters betrayed, tortured, and interrogated Khan, forcing him to make a confession tape revealing his duplicity. Qureshi planned to send the tape to his ISI superiors, but the cellular connection was poor due to the fighting, and, as Qureshi left his headquarters, the Syrian Arab Army counterattacked against the jihadists. At the same time, Nawaz Mistry and a team of Academi mercenaries rescued Khan from the LeT headquarters, and they gave chase to Qureshi, intending to prevent him from sending the incriminating tape to the ISI. They ultimately cornered Qureshi's vehicle, and Khan gave chase to Qureshi as Mistry and her mercenaries exchanged fire with Qureshi's guards. Khan cornered Qureshi against a wall before Qureshi could send the video to the ISI from his phone, and Qureshi uttered Khan's name before being gunned down with a light machine-gun. Qureshi's death provoked retaliation by the ISI against India, resulting in the assassination of Indian diplomat Rajan Sampat.
