Muhammad ibn Ali

Muhammad ibn Ali (690-750) was a relative of Muhammad and the father of al-Mansur and as-Saffah, the first two Abbasid Caliphate caliphs.

Biography[]

Muhammad ibn Ali was born in 690 to a Bedouin Sunni Muslim family. He was of the Quraysh tribe, and was born in Humaima, Palestine. His grandfather was the uncle of Muhammad, the founder of Islam. His sons as-Saffah and al-Mansur went on to establish the Abbasid Caliphate, and would expand Islam eastwards.
