Muhammad Mahdi al-Salih

Muhammad Mahdi al-Salih (born 1948) was Minister of Trade of Ba'athist Iraq from 1987 to 2003, succeeding Hassan Ali Nassar al-Ameri.

Biography[]

Muhammad Mahdi al-Salih was born in 1948 in Rawa, Anbar Governorate, Iraq to a Sunni Muslim Arab. He joind the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party under Saddam Hussein and served as Chief of the Presidential Office in the mid-1980s before becoming Minister of Trade in 1987. On 23 April 2003, his tenure ended with his capture by the United States in the opening stages of the Iraq War, and in March 2012 he was released by the Iraqi government before leaving the country.
