Moussa Oukabir

Moussa Oukabir (1999-18 August 2017) was a Spanish Islamic State sympathizer and one of the perpetrators of the 2017 Barcelona attack.

Biography[]

Moussa Oukabir was born in Girona, Spain in 1999 to a family of Moroccan immigrants, the younger brother of Driss Oukabir. The Oukabir brothers grew up in Ripoll, Catalonia, and Oukabir was seen as a normal teenager with normal interests; however, when asked online the first thing he would do if he became king of the world, he said that he would kill all "infidels" and only spare practicing Muslims. In 2017, he stole his brother's identification to rent a van that was used in the 2017 Barcelona attack, and both brothers were initially seen as possible drivers; Driss turned himself in to police and claimed that his brother had stolen his papers, while it was later revealed that Moussa was not likely to have been the driver. Early on 18 August 2017, a day after the Barcelona attack, he took part in a vehicle ramming and stabbing attack in Cambrils, and he was gunned down by Spanish police alongside El Houssaine Abouyaaqoub, Said Aallaa, Omar Hychami, and Mohamed Hychami.
