Mototada Torii (1539-8 September 1600) was the daimyo of the Torii clan and a general of the Tokugawa. A veteran of Ieyasu Tokugawa's campaigns, he was one of the most loyal commanders. His biggest role was that of a general during the Sekigahara Campaign of 1600. Mototada took part in the capture of Osaka from the Osaka Defenders under Hideyori Toyotomi, the quelling of Kagekatsu Uesugi's uprising in Aizu, the battle of the Tokkaido Rode, and finally, the Battle of Fushimi Castle. Mototada was overrun and he committed seppuku rather than surrender.
