Motoe Kawauchi

Motoe Kawauchi (born 1989) was a Japanese martial artist who was, along with his brother Gensho Kawauchi, the heir to the Kawauchi School of Martial Arts.

Biography[]

Motoe Kawauchi was born in Osaka, Japan in 1989, the younger brother of Gensho Kawauchi. He and his brother came from a long dynasty of martial artists whose school of martial arts, partly influenced by judo, became the preeminent school in western Japan. His brother became obsessed with becoming the most powerful fighter in all Japan, and both Motoe and Gensho sought to find the famed warrior Kazuma Kiryu, the presumptive heir to Sotaro Komaki's school of martial arts, although Gensho sought to defeat Kiryu and prove his might, and Motoe sought to convince Kiryu to humble his brother by defeating him. On 20 December 2006, Motoe hired several of his friends from high school to seek out and challenge Kiryu to a throwing match, which Kiryu easily won. Kawauchi, who had been tracking Kiryu for some time, approached him after the fight and said that Kiryu had passed his test with flying colors, and introduced himself before telling Kiryu about his family's martial arts school and his desire for Kiryu to defeat his brother. Kiryu would ultimately defeat Gensho in the Coliseum in Sai no Kawara in Kabukicho, and Motoe rewarded Kiryu with his primer.
