Moses Robinson (22 March 1741 – 26 May 1813) was Governor of the Vermont Republic from 1789 to 1790, interrupting Thomas Chittenden's terms, and a US Senator from Vermont from 17 October 1791 to 17 October 1796, preceding Isaac Tichenor. He was a member of the Democratic-Republican Party.
Biography[]
Moses Robinson was born in Hardwick, Massachusetts in 1741, and his family moved to Bennington, Vermont in 1761. Robinson served as a colonel in the Vermont militia during the American Revolutionary War, and, in 1777, he became chief justice of the Vermont Superior Court. In 1789, he became Governor of the Vermont Republic, serving for one year. In 1791, he became of Vermont's inaugural US Senators, serving as a member of the Democratic-Republican Party. He resigned in 1796, and served in the State House of Representatives in 1802. He died in 1813.
