The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) was a Moro secessionist group formed in late 1970 in Mindanao, Sulu, and Palawan to achieve self-rule in the proposed Bangsamoro region of the Philippines. The MNLF was led by Nur Misuari, and in 1996 it made a peace agreement with the government to establish the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. However, Misuari led another failed uprising, and their insurgency continued even after the Moro Islamic Liberation Front made peace with the government in 2014.
