Morningside Heights is a neighborhood of upper Manhattan, New York City. The neighborhood is located along the Hudson River, and it includes famous sites such as Columbia University, Grant's Tomb, the Teachers College, Barnard College, and other schools. In 1776, the Battle of Harlem Heights was fought in Morningside Heights during the American Revolutionary War, and Morningside Heights is still considered to be a part of "Greater Harlem". In 2010, 55,929 people lived in the area, with most of them being white.
