Morgause

Morgause (born 27 March 451) was the wife of King Lot of Gododdin and the half-sister of King Arthur.

Biography[]

Morgause was born on 27 March 451, a daughter of Gorlois of Cornwall and Igraine. She was the half-sister of King Arthur and Morgan le Fay, Igraine's children by her second husband Uther Pendragon; however, she was unfamiliar with her younger siblings, as she was married off before they were born. According to one legend, she married the Orcadian King Lot and gave birth to Gawain, Agravaine, Gaheris, and Gareth, and, after her husband's defeat, she slept with Arthur, ignorant of their familial relationship. She then gave birth to an incestuous child, Mordred. She later had an affair with Sir Lamorak, the son of her family's blood rival Pellinore, and her son Gaheris caught them in the act and beheaded Morgause in her bead, for which he was exiled and almost executed.
