Morgannwg was a medieval Welsh kingdom that existed from 942 to 974 and from 1063 to 1091 as the result of the merger between Glywysing and Gwent. It was named for King Morgan Hen ab Owain, and his death in 974 led to the disintegration of the union. It was not until 1063 that Gwent and Glywysing was reconstituted, and it was conquered in 1091 by England. England proceeded to create the Lordship of Glamorgan in its place.
