Montmartre is a large hill and neighborhood in Paris, France, located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the northern section of the city. Named for the Roman god Mars, Montmartre is known for its artistic history and as a nightclub district, with many artists settling in the area during the Belle Epoque of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
