Monsieur Gillenormand

Monsieur Gillenormand was a French aristocrat who lived in Paris during the early 19th century. He was the father-in-law of Colonel Georges Pontmercy and was thus the grandfather of Marius Pontmercy, and he disagreed with his son-in-law and grandson due to their Bonapartist views; Gillenormand was a staunch monarchist who supported the Orleanists. In June 1832, he chastised Marius for his involvement with Les Amis de l'ABC, saying that he brought shame to the family, but he harbored great affection for his grandson and helped him with his six-month recovery after the suppression of the June Rebellion.
