
Moncure Daniel Conway (17 March 1832-15 November 1907) was a prominent American abolitionist from Virginia.
Biography[]
Moncure Daniel Conway was born in Falmouth, Virginia on 17 March 1832 to one of the "First Families of Virginia", and he developed abolitionist views due to the influence of his mother's family; however, two of his brothers served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. He became a prominent abolitionist (writing for anti-slavery publications during the war), a Methodist (and later Unitarian) minister, and a writer in England and France. He died in 1907.
