Escobar family after bombing

Manuela Escobar being examined by a doctor

The Monaco bombing occurred in 1988 when the Cali Cartel attempted to assassinate Medellin Cartel boss Pablo Escobar with a car bomb made up of 800 pounds of dynamite as his Monaco luxury apartment in Medellin, Colombia. Nobody was killed, but his daughter Manuela was forever left deaf in her left ear. Escobar had been given up by someone in his group, and he would later lose his cousin Gustavo Gaviria to these same traitors; in 1990, he discovered the traitors to be the Ochoa Brothers, who were in league with the Cali Cartel.
