Sheikh Mohammed Ali Awadalla (died 2015), also known as Abu Nidal, was a Palestinian imam and Hamas spiritual leader. A mentor of Taufiq Hammed since the arch-terrorist was 12, he was a friend of Taufiq, Hamas leader Abu Samara, and longtime revolutionary Ali Karmi. In 2015, he was kidnapped from Tulkarm by a rogue Mista'arvim team led by Doron Kabilio, who intended to trade Adawalla for Boaz Capon, a colleague who had been taken captive by Taufiq during a failed attempt on his life that resulted in the collaborationist Karmi's execution. The Israelis tortured Awadalla by smashing his fingers with a hammer after he refused to give up Taufiq's location, and he stubbornly said that he was born to be a shahid. After continued torture, he revealed that Taufiq was based at 8 Yahya Ayyash Street in Ramallah, near the Prime Minister's bureau, beneath ground level. The raid produced no results, but Kabilio succeeded in arranging a prisoner exchange at the Wadi Zaitoon near Ramallah; Awadalla and 50 other Palestinian prisoners would be traded for Kabilio. However, the Israelis also kidnapped Taufiq's daughter Abir, and they strapped both Abir and Awadalla with suicide vests before sending them to the meeting; Kabilio had learned from Dr. Shirin al-Abed that Hamas had planted a bomb inside Capon. Taufiq ordered Capon to be blown up as he walked towards the Israelis, resulting in Kabilio forcing Awadalla to walk towards the Palestinians before blowing him up as well; Abir was injured, but she was taken to the Hadassah Hospital for treatment. His son Nidal al-Makdasi, vengeful for his father's death, became the right-hand man to Walid al-Abed once the latter succeeded Hammed as Hamas' arch-terrorist.
