Mohammad Reza Zahedi

Mohammad Reza Zahedi (2 November 1960-1 April 2024) was an Iranian IRGC Brigadier-General who commanded the IRGC Air Force from 25 August 2005 to 21 January 2006 (succeeding Ahmad Kazemi and preceding Hossein Salami) and its Ground Force from 21 January 2006 to 13 July 2008 (succeeding Kazemi and preceding Mohammad Jafar Asadi).

Biography[]

Mohammad Reza Zahedi was born in Isfahan, Iran in 1960, and he joined the IRGC in 1979 before serving as commander of the 14th Imam Hossein Division from 1986 to 1991 during the Iran-Iraq War. He went on to command IRGC air forces from 2005 to 2006 and ground forces from 2006 to 2008, after which he headed Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon from 2008 to 2017. In 2024, he was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus amid the Israel-Hamas War.
