Mohammad Bagheri (1958-) was a Major-General of Iran's Artesh military, and in 2016 he was appointed Chief of Staff, replacing Hassan Firouzabadi.
Biography[]
Mohammad Bagheri was born in 1958 in West Azerbaijan, Iran to a Shia Muslim family. Bagheri was the brother of IRGC commander Hasan Bagheri, who was killed in the Iran-Iraq War; Bagheri, who also served in the IRGC, was awarded the Fath Medal of Honor three times. Along with Mohammad Ali Jafari, Ali Fadavi, and Gholam Ali Rashid, he served as one of the four commanders of the IRGC command network, and in 2016 he would be appointed Chief of Staff of the Artesh regular military.
