Mohammad-Reza Gharaei Ashtiani (1960-) was the Defense Minister of Iran from 25 August 2021, succeeding Amir Hatami.

Mohammad-Reza Gharaei Ashtiani was born in Tehran, Iran in 1960, and he served in the Iranian Army during the Iran-Iraq War. He rose through the ranks of the Iranian military before becoming Deputy Chief of Staff of the Artesh from 2019 to 2021 and as Defense Minister from 2021.
