
Mohammad-Hossein Malekzadegan (1944-) was Supreme Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy from 1985 to 1989, succeeding Esfandiar Hosseini and preceding Ali Shamkhani.
Biography[]
Mohammad-Hossein Malekzadegan was born in 1944, and he served in the Iranian Navy as a captain before commanding the south fleet in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman from 1983 to 1985 and serving as Supreme Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy from 27 June 1985 to 1989. His appointment reinvigorated the Navy after years of interservice rivalry with the IRGC Navy, and he commanded the Iranian Navy during the Tanker War of the mid-to-late 1980s.
