Mohamed Ali Zaatar (died 19 September 2015) was a colonel of the Syrian Republican Guards of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Biography[]
Zaatar was born to a family of Alawites in the Syrian Arab Republic, and he rose to become a colonel of the Syrian Republican Guards under President Bashar al-Assad. Zaatar fought in the Syrian Civil War against the Syrian Opposition, and he defended the capital of Damascus against the Syrian rebel forces. On 19 September 2015 he was killed during the Eastern Ghouta Offensive by Jaysh al-Islam.
