Mitre Square is a small square in the City of London, London, England, located next to the Holy Trinity Priory in the Aldgate ward. The monastery was demolished by King Henry VIII during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, allegedly cursing Mitre Square; at 1:45 AM on 30 September 1888, prostitute Catherine Eddowes was found murdered and mutilated in Mitre Square, one of Jack the Ripper's five canonical victims.
