The Cornfield

Miller's Cornfield is a section of the Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The 24-acre cornfield was owned by the farmer D.R. Miller at the time of the American Civil War and the 1862 Battle of Antietam, and more than 25,000 Union and Confederate soldiers fought at the Cornfield during the battle. The Union I and XII Corps clashed with the Confederates in the Cornfield for four hours, and Hays' Louisiana Brigade suffered over 60% casualties in 30 minutes.
