The Millennium Tower is a skyscraper and office tower located in Kabukicho, Tokyo. In 1988, the dilapidated Kabuki Shopping District was cleared out so that construction could begin on the skyscraper; a dispute over a small, empty lot on the construction site resulted in a brief yakuza war in December 1988. The tower was completed around 2001, and the tower's association with the yakuza resulted in the building being the site of an explosion in 2005 that rained 10 billion yen onto the streets of Kabukicho, the bombing of the Kazama-gumi offices by the Jingweon Mafia in 2006, a helicopter attack that assassinated Osamu Kashiwagi in 2009, the suicide of TMPD deputy commissioner Seishiro Munakata in 2010, the defeat of Tsubasa Kurosawa in 2012, and Takumi Someya's fight with Kiryu in 2016.
