Miles Conway Moore

Miles Conway Moore (17 April 1845-18 December 1919) was the Republican Governor of the Washington Territory from 9 April to 11 November 1889, succeeding Eugene Semple and preceding Elisha P. Ferry.

Biography[]

Miles Conway Moore was born in Rix Mills, Ohio in 1845, and he was raised in Point Bluff, Wisconsin before moving to Blackfoot, Montana and Walla Walla, Washington. He worked as a general store clerk before serving on the city council from 1877 to 1878, as Mayor in 1877, and as territorial governor in 1889. He died in Walla Walla in 1919.
