Mikhail Lapshin

Mikhail Lapshin (1 September 1934-17 June 2006) was an Agrarian Party of Russia politician who served as head of the Altai Republic from 19 January 2002 to 26 January 2006, succeeding Semyon Zubakin and preceding Alexander Berdnikov.

Biography[]

Mikhail Lapshin was born in Setovka, Altai Krai, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1934, and, while an ethnic Russian, he registered as an ethnic Altaian in 2002. He founded the Agrarian Party of Russia in 1993 and served as its president until 2004; he also served as head of the Altai Republic from 2002 to 2006. He was not renominated by Vladimir Putin in 2006, and he died that same year.
