Miguel de Almeida, 4th Marquis of Almeida (1785—1875) was a Portuguese cartographer, explorer, aristocrat and naval officer who rose to prominence in the 19th century. He took part in expeditions into the African interior, bringing prestige to the Kingdom of Portugal and Navarre. In 1867, the Marquis of Almeida replaced Admiral Júlio Capelo as the chief of the Portuguese Navy, being a former sailor, despite his old age. Miguel de Almedia held the post until 1871, when he retired, and was replaced by Admiral Alfredo Pinheiro.
