Miguel Fernandino

Miguel Fernandino (1861-) was a Mexican-American man who lived in Navasota, Grimes County, Texas during the late 19th century. In 1898, he was accosted by a band of Skinner Brothers at his campsite in the Great Plains, where they mistook him for Javier Escuella and attempted to take him in. However, he was rescued by the Arizona Kid and Little Pete, who agreed to escort him to Thieves' Landing, where he had friends. Along the way, he and Arizona were ambushed at the bridge to Thieves' Landing, with Arizona being wounded and shot off his horse. After Arizona recovered, he killed all of the ambushers and attempted to rescue Fernandino, but Fernandino was so shaken by his near-death experience that he was left with PTSD and refused to continue on to Thieves' Landing with Arizona. Arizona was thus forced to leave Fernandino behind and forego any payment for his safe passage, even though he was left very close to Thieves' Landing.
