Middletown Township

Middletown Township is a township in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Middletown was formed on 31 October 1693, and it was incorporated on 21 February 1798. Upon the completion of a railroad junction in 1875, the town grew more rapidly, changing from a collection of agricultural and fishing villages into a fast-growing suburb at the turn of the 20th century. In the rapid growth soon after World War II, Middletown came to lack a recognizable town center or square, becoming "The Biggest Small Town in New Jersey", as it called itself. In 2016, Middletown had a population of 65,482 people. According to the 2010 census, 93.9% of the population was white, 2.6% were Asian, 1.3% was African-American, 1.3% were mixed race, and .1% was Native American.
