Middlesex is a historic county in south-east England, now located entirely within the wider urbanized area of London. Middlesex was created in antiquity as home to the "Middle Saxons", and it existed as an administrative entity until 1965. In 1965, Middlesex was incorporated into Greater London, and it had a population of 2,234,543 people in 1961, just a few years before its merger.
