Michoacan is a state of western Mexico, with Morelia serving as its capital. The state borders Colima and Jalisco to the west and northwest, Guanajuato to the north, Queretaro to the northeast, and Guerrero to the southeast. The region is home to sizeable Native American populations, and it is also home to the La Familia Michoacana cartel. In 2015, Michoacan had a population of 4,584,471 people.
