Michael Scusa

Michael Patrick Scusa (5 October 1986 – 3 October 2009) was a US Army sergeant who served in the US 61st Cavalry Regiment during the Afghanistan War. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Scusa joined the Army in 2005 and served in the Iraq War before being stationed at Combat Outpost Keating on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border during the Afghanistan War. Scusa had a pet dog who was executed by Captain Sylvanius Broward in 2009 after biting a Pashtun elder. In October 2009, Scusa himself was shot in the neck and killed by a Taliban sniper, Wakdar Jhalawan, while running with ammunition for his comrades.
