Biography[]

Michael Grecco, Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 28th 1946, the nephew of Sal Marcano through marriage. His mother abandoned him when he was just three years old, and his father married Sal Marcano's sister-in-law before becoming a drug dealer under Marcano crime family capo Lou Marcano. Grecco saw Sal Marcano as a father figure after his father "committed suicide" in prison before he could testify against other Marcano members to avoid spending ten years in prison, and he became a lieutenant under his uncle. Grecco was assigned to run the rackets in River Row, New Orleans with Vito Scaletta during the 1960s, and he later held Scaletta hostage in 1968 when he attempted to leave Marcano's service. Grecco took over the rackets in River Row and tortured Scaletta, and Scaletta would ally with Lincoln Clay in an attempt to retake River Row. Grecco lost all of his rackets to Clay, and Sal Marcano sent hitmen to kill Grecco as he spent time with prostitutes, as he was enraged at Grecco's incompetence. Grecco attempted to flee from his shack in a car, stealing Lincoln Clay's car; Scaletta and Clay pursued in their own car, as did the Marcano hitmen. Clay shot out Grecco's tires shortly after crossing a bridge, and Grecco's bodyguards were killed. Clay and Scaletta proceeded to kidnap Grecco, escape the police, and bring him to a waterfront warehouse in River Row, where Scaletta tortured Grecco until he revealed that Sal Marcano was trying to build a casino and go legitimate. Scaletta then knocked Grecco out with a ratchet, ground him up in a meat grinder, and fed him to the fish.
