Michael G. Carstarphen

Michael Gregory Carstarphen (1856-) was a US Army captain who was stationed at Fort Wallace in South Dakota during the 1890s. In 1899, he and his comrades cornered the escaping outlaws Dutch van der Linde and Arthur Morgan on a cliff above the Cheyenne River after the Battle of Firwood Rise, but the outlaws escaped by jumping from the cliff and into the river.
