Biography[]
Michael Ehrmantraut was born in Philadelphia on January 31st 1942 to a family of German descent. Mike was neglected by his parents throughout childhood. He previously served in the Vietnam War as a USMC scout sniper before joining the police force in 1979, working as a beat cop for twenty years before retiring in 1999. Mike was previously married for 22 years and had birthed a son, Matthew Ehrmantraut, who also became a police officer but was shot and killed in 2001. Mike later avenged his son's death by killing the two officers responsible for his murder.
Mike moved to New Mexico in 2002 to be closer to his widowed daughter-in-law and grand-daughter, finding employment as a parking lot attendant for an Albuquerque courthouse. Through his work, he became acquainted with attorneys Jimmy McGill, Kim Wexler and Howard Hamlin. When two Philadelphia PD detectives arrived into New Mexico to interrogate Mike for the double-murder of officers Hoffman and Fensky, he hired Jimmy McGill to tamper with evidence. In exchange for Jimmy's services, Mike helped him recover stolen money from the Kettlemans.
